Are Central Asian Shepherds Hypoallergenic? Shedding and Allergies

No. Central Asian Shepherds are not hypoallergenic. They have a double coat and shed heavily during seasonal coat changes. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, or AAAAI, states that no dog breed is truly hypoallergenic.
What causes pet allergy
AAAAI describes allergens in skin flakes, saliva and urine. Visible hair is only part of the exposure in a home. A shorter coat therefore gives little basis for predicting a person’s reaction.
If someone in the household has pet allergies, discuss dog ownership with their clinician before acquiring one, especially when asthma or significant symptoms are involved.
Coat and shedding
The FCI standard describes coarse, straight outer hair over a developed undercoat, with shorter and longer coat forms. Regular brushing helps manage loose hair and gives you a chance to inspect the skin.
The grooming guide covers a practical station, gentle brushing and routine care. Choose tools for this coat type and ask a groomer to demonstrate technique.

Planning the household
Ask the clinician which environmental measures fit the person’s needs. AAAAI discusses keeping pets out of bedrooms and using appropriate cleaning and filtration measures. Decide who will brush the dog, clean bedding and maintain those routines.
One short outdoor visit with the candidate dog exposes a person differently from living indoors with it. Plan any trial exposure with the clinician.
Skin care and the final decision
Use dog-appropriate grooming products and a routine suited to the coat and skin. Ask the veterinarian about itching, unusual hair loss, sores or persistent odor.
Review temperament and family suitability alongside the allergy decision.
